Coronavirus daily: Positive cases in Norfolk pass 400 as reported daily positive cases and deaths in UK drops

As authorities are asking people to continue to obey the government measures for the Easter weekend, both figures for daily positive cases and deaths have seen a drop – showing that the actions of us all, at a very early stage, may be having an effect.

Public Health England figures from 5pm last night, showed the number of reported positive cases for the 24-hour period before was at 4,344, compared to the previous 24-hour period of 5,491.

The total amount of UK confirmed cases now standing at 65,077.

Daily deaths in hospitals had also lowered to 881, from 938 in the previous period, though experts said that some numbers from hospitals were still having reporting delays.

Norfolk reported positive cases are now at 438, with Suffolk now having had 314.

England as a whole has had 54,554 cases, Scotland with 4,957, Wales with 4,089 and Northern Ireland with 1,477.

Total deaths from the virus across the UK is now at 7,978.
