Coronavirus daily: Norfolk and Suffolk both see confirmed cases rise by more than 40

As the Easter weekend starts and it is hoped people will continue to follow government measures, Norfolk and Suffolk report large rises in confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Public Health England figures from 5pm last night, showed Norfolk had reported 486 positive cases, a rise of 48 compared to the previous 24-hour period.

Suffolk also saw a rise of cases by 46, with 360 reported cases.

The total amount of reported positive cases for the 24-hour period was 5,195.

The total amount of UK confirmed cases now standing at 70,272.

Daily deaths in hospitals has seen the largest figure so far, 980, compared to 881 reported Friday and 938 on Thursday.

Experts though said that the large number variations could still be down to reporting delays from some hospitals.

England as a whole has had 58,817 cases, Scotland with 5,275, Wales with 4,591 and Northern Ireland with 1,589.

Total deaths from the virus across the UK is now at 8,958.
