As prime minister Boris Johnson writes to the nation with outbreak and NHS guidance the country has seen the death toll on the UK go into four figures.

Though experts have said the measures on social distancing and restrictions on everyday life the government has put in place will have an impact, they say this could take around two to three weeks before they see it in the data.

Public Health England figures show that the total amount of UK cases is now at 17,089.

England has had 14,427 cases, Scotland 1,245, Wales 1,093 and Northern Ireland 324.

Norfolk now has 90 confirmed cases, whereas Suffolk has 74.

Total deaths from the virus across the UK is now at 1,019, with 260 from the last 24-hour period.
