The Chambers Community Cafe’s success in Attleborough sees second helping delivered
A community cafe has expanded its opening hours after seeing numbers swell in a matter of weeks.
Chambers Community Cafe, held in Attleborough Town Hall, has increased in popularity since its launch at the start of the year.
Town mayor Talia Taylor said it had been amazing to see it grow.
“The first week, we had six people; the following week, we had 35 and the next week we had 60 – so it went from six to 60 in a flash,” she said.
“The now constant uptake from people and rise in numbers has just shown us that we needed something like this here.”
Launched in partnership with district and town councillors, all food and drink at the cafe is free, with businesses, residents or clubs acting as sponsors.
The initiative started on Sundays, between noon and 2pm, but is now also doing a ‘Soup, Signposting and Support’ session on Thursdays, between 11am and 2pm.
“We would like to thank our sponsors, who have been brilliant at coming forward,” said Cllr Taylor. “We are fully sponsored up until the middle of July, which is just amazing.”
