Alburgh with Denton Primary School marks Children's Mental Health Week with expression activities

From tree climbing and disco dancing to drawing landscapes and learning Jedi mind tricks, schoolchildren have found a multitude of ways to show their support for mental health.

Pupils at Alburgh with Denton Primary School were tasked with selecting their own activity linked to the school’s 2021 motto – express yourself – to mark Children’s Mental Health Week.

More than 50 children and staff took part in an activity which showed off an aspect of their personality, with the photos of their efforts then made into a slideshow and video.

Kelly Francis, a higher level teaching assistant and forest school leader at the school, said: “Children’s mental health is of huge importance, especially at the moment.

“We always keep people talking and offer support where we can to both children and parents or carers. The school has embraced the activities this past week, but checking on children’s wellbeing and mental health is something we do every week.”
