CCTV image released after fail-to-stop collision leaves child seriously injured
A CCTV image has emerged of a car involved in a fail-to-stop collision that left a young child with serious injuries.
Police were called to the A134 Brandon Road, in Thetford, at around 6.50pm on Monday, when a white Skoda Fabia was involved in a collision with the pedestrian and did not stop at the scene.
The image shows the Skoda, which has a black roof and black alloys, travelling on Brandon Road shortly before 6pm on the day of the incident.
Two other cars, a blue Ford Fiesta and a grey Volkswagen Golf, can be seen on CCTV travelling near to the Skoda and officers are also keen to trace the drivers of these cars, as they could have important witness information.
Following the collision, the young child was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed the Skoda was travelling towards the crossroads with the Chase pub, having come from the direction of the A11/Canterbury Way, when the collision happened and then failed to stop at the scene.
Sgt Ben Hawkins, from the Roads and Armed Policing Team, said: “The white Skoda involved is quite distinctive with its black roof and black alloy wheels. We hope that be releasing this image it will prompt people with information, or the driver themselves, to come forward.
“I would urge anyone with information to come forward and take this opportunity to once again appeal directly to the driver of the Skoda to come forward so we can get their account and understand the full circumstances of the collision.”
