Eye campaigner hopes petition brings more services to Hartismere Hospital

A campaigner has said he will continue to push a petition he hopes will change the healthcare in his town after receiving the backing of his MP.

Jordan Hare feels Hartismere Hospital in Eye should be given the funds to have more services on the site, and has generated 800 signatures from supporters.

The petition has even drawn the attention of Waveney Valley MP Adrian Ramsay, who spoke about the health centre during a Westminster debate on healthcare in September.

Mr Hare said: “It is great that Hartismere is being put on the bigger stage as it could do so much more.”

The campaigner started the petition following an incident at Hartismere Place Care Home two years ago.

“One of my colleagues had a cardiac incident at around 2am and I had to get the defibrillator,” said Mr Hare.

“Had it have been worse, the nearest hospital is 20 miles away, and that could be the difference between life and death.

“I do understand the hospital has outpatient clinics, but I would like to see some sort of emergency service, like a minor injuries unit, as well as a dental service.”

Mr Hare, who is targeting 5,000 signatures, hopes the site can be kept on the political stage when healthcare is discussed again.

“It is great to have so much support on this and I hope we can keep the momentum going,” he said.
