Harleston business builds on success amid a changing lockdown landscape
A family-run landscaping business has been weathering the lockdown storm, with team spirit and hard work at the root of its success.
Having initially been formed more than 20 years ago by Justin Hunt and his partner, Jo Grainger, J H Property and Landscaping offers a vast range of services to an area stretching across East Anglia.
“We cover a large area and, while lockdown presented challenges at first, especially in terms of the supply of materials, we’ve been fortunate in that there has been a steady stream of jobs, said 43-year-old Mr Hunt.
“Many of those jobs have come from repeat customers or friends of people we have completed work for. Reputation, word of mouth and providing consistent, excellent quality work is essential for our business and that’s helped us to move forward through lockdowns successfully.”
The business offers patio laying, roofing, landscaping, painting, house renovations, clearances, groundwork, timber-framed buildings and fencing, to name just a few of its services.
Mr Hunt, who is based in Harleston, has decades of experience and developed his skill-set while working with other companies before branching out on his own.
“We have years of experience in each service we offer, but you also need to have creativity in how you apply those skills to certain tasks,” he said.
“When we look at the options for a job and discuss them with the customer, they give us the specifications, then we have to work out how best to make them a reality.
“Bringing those ideas to life and finishing up a big job brings a real sense of pride and satisfaction and that’s been a driving force for me throughout my life.”
