Diss business owner plans 160ft bungee jump for charity

A local business owner has decided to complete a 160ft bungee jump for a mental health charity after initially planning to go along to support a friend.

Ellie Gardner, 19, owner of plant shop Ell’s Corner in St Nicholas Street in Diss, will put her nerves to the test in Cambridge on July 24, and hopes to raise £500 for the Mental Health Foundation.

She said: “My friend, Jenna Lingwood, who runs a business called Jenna’s Curio Cabinet, started planning a jump and asked if I wanted to tag along.

“I wasn’t planning on doing a bungee jump myself to raise money – it was only after she had booked hers that I decided to give it a go. I love an adrenaline rush and doing a bungee jump has always been on my bucket list.”

Miss Gardner, who has struggled with depression and anxiety in the past, added: “Opening a shop was more nerve-racking than a bungee jump.

“Struggling with mental health has definitely been an incentive to make these decisions – it shouldn’t stop you from doing the things you want to do in life.”
