A Suffolk village’s medieval market is the subject of the latest in a series of books written by a group of local history enthusiasts.

Author Diana Maywhort researched back to the 13th century for Botesdale Medieval Market, which is the eighth in the Quatrefoil books on Botesdale, Rickinghall and Redgrave.

Three more publications are planned for this year — on men killed in the First World War, the three villages in the Second World War and about Basil Brown, from Rickinghall, who discovered the Sutton Hoo burial ship.

Quatrefoil would be pleased to hear from anyone who has photographs or information on any of these subjects.

The books already published are £5 — apart from Rickinghall Inferior church guide which is £3 — and can be obtained from Diana Maywhort on 01379 898785 or Jean Sheehan on 01379 890237. Hill Top Hardware Stores and the Pet Food Store at Botesdale and Redgrave community shop have copies for sale. Further information is at
