Do you recognise any of these faces?

We need help from our readers with today’s Memory Lane picture.

We know it is of a Roydon team at the school sports day at Rectory Meadow, Diss, but that is all we have been able to establish.

Although we have been able to name the people in recent pictures on this page, this week, we don’t know any of them. So it is over to readers, either with long memories, because the picture was taken in 1949, or who recognise family members to tell us more.

What we can tell from the picture is how much Diss has developed in the intervening years. Today, Rectory Meadow is largely surrounded by housing and clearly in the middle of the town.

When this picture was taken it looked more like a grazing meadow out in the countryside, not the mown and tended cricket field it is now.
