The Pharmacists play gig at Oxfam shop in Diss to promote Sunday trading

Bargain hunters were treated to some live music, when a band squeezed into a charity shop to play a quick-fire set.

Oxfam on Market Hill, Diss, welcomed Indie band the Pharmacists to promote the fact that it is now open on Sundays.

Led by Will Porteous, of Wildflower Records, the band played eight tracks on February 23, including some Tom Petty hits.

Mr Porteous said: “It went really well. I am not entirely sure people knew what to make of it when they came in, but we had some fun.

“We also auctioned off some random toys in between songs, which helped the cause.”

Having previously played in other Oxfam shops, Mr Porteous was only too happy to add another to the list.

He added: “I spoke to Sarah, the co-manager, who was up for it. That is all you need – people with open minds.”

The band’s next gig will be in Brixton in London on May 16, before returning to Soundwaves in Roydon in August.
