Diss will welcome some French influence to the town in April as the Fair Green Neighbourhood Association hosts its first ever Brocante.
Running at Fair Green from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, April 30, a Brocante is a car boot sale characterised by its sheer mix of goods up for grabs, mainly old or antique. Vintage clothing, jewellery, china, tools, collectables, linens, plants, bottles, post cards, militaria, ornaments, kitchenalia, bric a brac, furniture and agricultural bygones are likely to be just some of the things on offer on the day.
The Brocante is a magnet for collectors and bargain hunters, and it’s no surprise that these quirky markets are beginning to appear here in the UK.
A spokesperson for the event said: “The Brocante is a magnet for collectors and bargain hunters, and it’s no surprise that these quirky markets are beginning to appear here in the UK.
“In France they are a traditional community event, often taking over an entire village, with every street lined with stalls and the local bars, restaurants and the communal barbecue doing a roaring trade, so where better to hold a Brocante in Diss than on the Fair Green, home to outdoor communal fairs and markets for hundreds of years?
If you are a prospective seller and you would like to reserve a space, from £12 to £15 depending on size, contact Mark, Fair Green Neighbourhood Association treasurer, at firstname.lastname@example.org
