Attleborough Horticultural Society pays tribute to rose grower Peter Beales

Attleborough and District Horticultural Society members have been shocked to hear of the death of Peter Beales.

Peter, in addition to his achievements in making his rose nurseries world renowned was a very good friend to our society and has given us active support over many years, not least in making the facilities at the nurseries available to us. At the time of his death he was our long-standing president and even when he was unwell he kept in close contact with us. We offer our sincere condolences to his family.

The March meeting of the society will take place on Wednesday March 20 at the usual venue of Attleborough Junior School, starting at 7.30pm. Donny Andrews will be giving a talk on My Life – Brought up on a Farm, and we are always delighted to welcome non-members of the society to these talks.

The very inclement weather caused the meeting scheduled for January to be cancelled but we are hoping for better luck for the rest of the year. On the April 20 we have our Spring Show in the Connaught Hall in Attleborough. This show is open to exhibitors who are not members of the society so if you would like to exhibit please contact the show secretary, Betty Stacey, on 01953 454790.
