Attleborough Boxing Club will begin plans to expand its facilities after it received a grant of £20,000 from Breckland Council. Coupled with a grant they received from Sport England, they will now be able to start work to increase the size of their gym facility and create a new strength and conditioning room.

Founded in 2009 the Deopham Road club has grown in popularity, meaning the old facilities are no longer able to cater for the growing demand.

The club is currently based in one room, meaning that only one session can run at a time, but the new facilities will allow for the coaching staff to give more to their members.

“We are now looking at being able to carry out more specialist sessions in terms of both training and coaching. We hope to create a centre of excellence for a diverse range of groups,” said Jeremy Burton, Chairman of Attleborough Boxing Club.

“Having more than one room means we can have different specialist sessions on at the same time.”

Mr Burton is hoping to have the work completed by the end of the year and anticipates business as usual whilst the work is carried out on the club.
