Eye exhibit brings attention to world issues while fundraising for charity

An artist and magician, who hopes to change the way world issues are tackled, has pulled off his first exhibition.

Stephen Burns, of Stoke Road in Thorndon, set out to raise money for five different charities, with the final tally passing £385.

Mr Burns’ was able to marry his lifetime love of art with his skill as a magician, which was developed during his formative years, when he worked semi-professionally as an illusionist.

His dream to turn those skills into making a positive difference culminated in the two-dayexhibition in Eye Town Hall at the weekend.

Mr Burns said: “I had a really good response and the comments were so positive from everyone who came along.

“I spent all night setting up and only got one hour’s sleep, so I was exhausted on the day but it was worth the effort.

“I spoke to lots of people who were really touched that I was using my work to raise awareness for important issues.

“I’ve got lots of ideas for new pieces of art but it’s all about finding the time and energy.”

Mr Burns hopes to host his next exhibition in London, provided he can find the right venue.
