Eye arsonist jailed for more than two years

A 29-year-old man has been jailed for 28 months after an incident of arson in Eye last year.

At around 1.15am on Monday, August 13, police received reports of a fire within a flat complex in Hutton Court.

The fire caused minor damage to the building and no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Officers investigating the circumstances of the suspected arson arrested Matthew Eaves of Hutton Court, Eye, a short time later. He was subsequently charged with arson and was remanded.

Eaves admitted arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered, on Thursday, December 20 when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court.

Appearing at Ipswich Crown Court last Thursday, May 2, Eaves was sentenced to 28 months in jail.
