Appeal after car travelling wrong way down A11 at Attleborough crashes

Police are appealing for information after a car travelling the wrong way down the A11 at Attleborough collided with another.

The incident happened just after midnight on Sunday, May 1, near to the West Carr Road flyover.

A red Mini Cooper was heading towards Wymondham when a Silver Vauxhall Astra, travelling on the wrong side of the road, collided with it.

After the accident the driver of the Astra continued 300 metres along the A11 before stopping their vehicle and fleeing the scene.

A man in his 30s from the Norwich area was later arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail until May 29.

The driver of the Mini suffered minor injuries, and was taken to hospital to be treated for whiplash.

Anyone who may have seen the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the crash or the person who fled the scene should contact PC Shaun Turner at Acle Police Station on 101.
