Richard Negus visited Diss Publising to talk about his new book, Words From the Hedge
The majesty of hedges was the topic of discussion at a recent book signing event.
Richard Negus visited Diss Publising last Saturday to talk about his new book, Words From the Hedge: A Hedgelayer’s View of the Countryside.
Richard, who lives in Suffolk, is a former soldier and professional horseman. He now lays hedges for a living and is also an award-winning conservationist.
With over 20 years of experience as a hedge layer, Richard is passionate about the human skill and effort that go into hedgerows, often taken for granted despite being an emblem of the British countryside.
His new book explores the biodiversity they foster, as well as the men and women dealing with the everyday complexities of modern farming, conservation and countryside stewardship.
He said: “Every hedge is a testament to generations of human skill and labour.”
