Roydon Summer Fair proves most successful ever for pre-school organisers
Organisers of a fun day are celebrating their most successful year with hundreds turning up to enjoy a range of activities.
Roydon Summer Fair was held at Roydon Village Hall on Saturday. Attractions included the Florence School of Dance, bouncy castles, facepainting, handmade cards, cross stitch cards, ice creams, and and barbecue.
There were also fund-raising stalls, wooden crafts, cakes, homeware, gift accessories.
The event raises money for Roydon Early Years pre-school, which organises the day.
Tammy Batchelor, manager, said: “It went brilliantly. It was the most money we've ever made at an event, reaching £729.50.
“I didn't count but there were hundreds of adults and children there and it was amazing to see.
“One of the stalls was even run by a former pupil of ours who is now 15 and raising money for a trip to Peru through his school next year.
“It's really special to see how children who came to us previously are doing, and even more special that they remember their time with us.
“A huge thank you to everyone who made the day such a success, both visitors and stallholders. We’ve had some lovely comments about how much people enjoyed it.
“We have at least two fund-raisers each year; one is always a sponsored activity for the children to do over the Easter holidays, and then we have the summer fair - and Christmas fair this year.
“The money raised always goes back into paying for things for the children, and this year we took part in Children's mental health week.
“At the end of last half term we hired a coach and we all went to Banham zoo.”
