May I thank the manageress of the Feline Care Charity Shop in Diss, Louise Revel, and two other customers who came to my assistance when I fell up the stone stairs to the shop falling heavily and hitting my head, face and shoulder.

Readers may recall my letter (Where’s the care, January 8) regarding the absence of ‘care in the community’ support for my 90-year-old father, who requires regular blood transfusions, suffers from dementia and has a catheter.

Being a returnee to the area after 30 years in other parts of the country, I am delighted to find that some of the shops that were there then still exist.

I was born in the Dolphin Inn in 1935, my sister Pearl in 1936.

I have not read so much rubbish in my life (Community support strong for pub says MP, December 4).

I felt compelled to write in praise of staff at the Tesco in Diss for the help and attention they gave my mother Josephine O’Donnell, aged 78.

Wonderful to have a litter day especially on a Sunday, but it doesn’t solve the problem.

I look forward to Wetherspoons coming to Diss.
