The children of the Northwest School, Seattle, are to perform their play ‘Crates of Thunder’ at the Red Feather Club, Horham on Sunday, July 20.
The play, written and directed by Laura Ferri, is dedicated to the men and women who built and flew the warplanes of World War Two.
It will feature 12 students from the school, ranging in age from 13-17.
Seattle is the home of the Boeing and during the war the B-17 aircraft were manufactured there. The pupils researched and developed in conjunction with the Northwest School’s 7th Grade Humanities Class study of the war and the 8th Air Force.
Described as a far from traditional play, it explores the era through the lens of a warplane from the children and villagers whose lives were forever changed by the bombs dropped by the enemy to the men and woman who built and flew the planes in combat.
The play will incorporate recollections from those who experienced the war.
Tickets are £5 on the door for the show which starts at 3pm.
