A delighted young audience (and some rather apprehensive parents) gathered at Norwich Theatre Royal last month on a Saturday afternoon for a special birthday celebration.

Channel 5’s children’s programme Milkshake brought its Party Party Live to the stage, with some favourite characters including Little Princess, Noddy, Bananas in Pyjamas, and Toby with his travelling circus.

Lights flashed and soapy bubbles flowed in the lead up to Milkshake Monkey’s surprise birthday party.

There were catchy tunes, dance routines and plenty of stars of the television show to get little audience members excited.

The girl next to us was so moved at one point that she fell off her seat and had to be picked up, unscathed and still dancing, by her grandmother.

A rather full-on experience for tired parents on a Saturday afternoon, Milkshake Party Party Live certainly got the children’s vote. And that’s what matters most.
