The Mere Players dramatics society is performing its next production, Under Milk Wood, for three nights at Roydon Village Hall next week.

After the success of their last production, Let’s All Go to the Music Hall, the group is now set for what it has described as an ‘exciting and lively version’ of this ‘play for voices’, written by Dylan Thomas.

This funny, saucy production combines words and music on a journey through the village of Llareggub, populated by quirky yet oddly familiar characters.

It was originally performed in New York as a reading by a group of actors and Thomas himself, followed by a BBC radio drama, and now the Mere Players are looking to build on that reading experience, but supported by live music, song and visuals.

Performances are on Thursday, October 8, Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, at the hall. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm, with a licensed bar available.

Tickets are £9 each, available at the door, or online through www.ticketsource.co.uk/mereplayers
