Gissing will keep its scarecrow tradition alive and well this Sunday when it becomes awash with a vibrant pirate theme for the annual fete on the village green.
People of all ages are urged to go along dressed in pirate regalia and enjoy a wealth of different activities, including a buried treasure map, a pieces of eight trail, thematic dancing performances and tractor rides, plus the return of favourites from past years, like the splat the rat, fishing for ducks and bric-a-brac stalls.
All sorts of pirate-styled scarecrows will also appear all throughout the village, while the Gissing Crown pub is providing a selection of real ales as well as live music, courtesy of the Tinks and Ball Blues Band.
The fete is set to run from 2-5pm, with parking available next to the bowling green and church, accessed via Rectory Road.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the local Heart of Gissing charity.
