The prestigious BurySOUND Music Competition, which kicks off in February 2016, is celebrating its 18th year with an exciting launch party.
Six top local bands will rock the stage at the Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday September 19 - including a headline spot for last year’s BurySOUND winners The Virtues.
The annual battle of the bands competition rocked onto East Anglia’s music scene at Bury’s Corn Exchange in November 1997.
Since then it has established a growing reputation for showcasing the best new music acts in the area with the late Radio One’s John Peel once describing Bury St Edmunds as ‘the new Seattle’.
Last year’s winners The virtues will be joined on stage by previous BurySOUND bands Atorc, Code of Conduct, Fortunato, The Staycations and War Waves.
The popular competition is being sponsored by St Edmundsbury Borough Council, The Hunter Club, The Apex and Washing Machine.
Bands and musicians are invited to come along and register at the launch party but can also apply online at www.burysound.com.
Tickets to the launch event are £5 on the door or £4 if you click ‘attend’ on its Facebook page.
Doors are open from 6pm to 10.30pm.
The deadline to register for BurySOUND is Friday December 4.
A series of three heats will be held in February with the final on Friday March 4.
