Beautifully warm and sunny conditions were the order of the day for competitors running the Cyril Comber 15 and 7½-mile road races.

The 15-mile race, sponsored by comercrawley personal injury lawyers and the oldest road race in Norfolk, was won Allen Smalls, of Colchester Harriers in a time of 1.30.19. Second was Stephen Pettit, of Ely Runners, in 1.30.34, and Nathan Mills came third in 1.31.36.

In the women's race, Kate Papenberg came first in a time of 1.40.12, ahead of Chelmsford AC pair Joanne Baker and Wendy King.

The first Diss AC runner home was Mick Glynn, beating last year's time by three minutes to finish in a time of 1.47.49.

For the third year in succession the 7½-mile run was won by David Millar, of Woodbridge Shufflers, in a time of 41.10, beating last year's time by 50 seconds. First place in the women's section went to 17-year-old Roxanne Holder, of Diss AC, in 58 minutes 31 seconds.

Kieran McMorran, 13, of Waveney Valley AC, won the 1¼-mile fun run in 08.38. The first girl was Rhianna Baily, 15, of Diss AC, in 09:12.
