The pair rolled into town on their motorbikes on Wednesday as part of a tour around the country.

Watched by a appreciative audience, the pair cooked Norfolk dumplings: "With mince and tatties, what else," said Mr Myers.

Having already been to the north Norfolk coast to sample the delights of Cromer crabs, the chefs decided to give the programme some extra flavour by covering the south of the county as well.

"It is very beautiful in Diss," said Mr Myers. "On our tour of Britain we wanted to redress the balance so we came to this part of the country."

Paul Dungar, watching the demonstration, said: "I think it's hilarious. It's a laugh. I was just walking past. They are really good."

Hazel Lawes, who works as a cook at Safe Hands day nursery in Diss, said that she didn't pick up any cooking tips as she regularly makes Norfolk dumplings, but said the experience had made a good day out. "I think it's a good advert for Diss," she said.
