Visitors to Framlingham who saw a bath tub rolling down the street would, under normal circumstances, think they had gone mad.

But that was the whole point on Sunday when the town held its second annual May Madness Gravity Go Kart Races on the Market Hill.

The event attracted 28 karts, which were raced in pairs from the Castle pub down Church Street and around the market square to the bottom of Market Hill.

Spadge Hopkins, who helps organise the event with Framlingham Town Council's entertainments committee, said: "It was a fantastic day with a number of high quality karts, as well as the more traditional ones."

The adult trophy went to joint winners Marcus Gooch and 14-year-old Florence Ball, while the juniors section was won by ten-year-old Polly Speight.

The honours for best-dressed cart went to Thomas the Tank Engine and Rub-a-ducky – a bath tub and shower complete with running water and bubbles – while the 'booby prize' for the worst driving was won by the Mutley Crew.
