The Mechanical Music Museum at Cotton opened an Aladdin's cave on Sunday.

About 100 enthusiasts gathered to hear and see the 24 large and small organs play.

Among organs housed at the museum is the mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ, built and installed in the Stilwell Theatre in America in 1926 and then moved to the Luxury Theatre in London, before ending up in Cotton, and being rebuilt with an upright piano attachment.

Organiser Phyllis Keeble said: "The day went very well despite the fact it was very wet. People took it in turns to play their own organs and they were very pretty to look at."

All money raised on the day will go towards refurbishing, tuning and decorating the machines before the museum is opened again next May.

For more information, contact Phyllis Keeble, 01449 613876.
