Sudbury Rugby Club boosted their promotion hopes with a whitewash 55-0 victory over Basildon, while Diss, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket all lost.

Tom Summers scored a hat-trick of tries, with Harry Maile (two), Sam Maile, Shaun Smith, Justin Burton and Henry Cowling also crossing the line in a comfortable victory at Whittome Field.

It was a fourth win in a row for Graham Richards’ side and it takes them now to within three points of second place Diss, who were beaten 26-0 at title rivals Saffron Walden.
