Meyers helps EC into the last eight

Former Diss RFC player Shaq Meyers played a part as Eastern Counties Under-20s progressed to the quarter-finals of the RFU National Under-20s Shield at Sudbury on Sunday.

Playing in boggy conditions, Meyers, now playing at Championship side Bedford Blues, was in the starting XV in a 43-14 win over Cambridge University.

Eastern Counties scored seven tries in a dominant display where, but for a couple of brief spells in the second half apart, Cambridge University were always second best.
