George Wilby overcame the cold and harsh conditions at Yaxley to come out victorious in a Diss Angling Club match.

Using long pole and loose feed, Wilby took a host of small roach to clinch a winning total of 4lb 13oz.

Billy Crisp — using a similar technique — claimed second, with his haul weighing in at 2lb 11oz, ahead of Keith Rodwell, whose mainly roach catch totalled 1lb 5oz.

Elsewhere, Billy Hughes took a mixed catch of skimmer, bream, crucian and roach weighing in at 5lb 3oz to take victory in another club match on Diss Mere.

Jimmy Ellis was not far behind in second with his roach and perch haul weighing in at 4lb 13oz, which was enough to finish narrowly ahead of Andrew Mears, whose catch totalled 4lb 7oz.
