Dave Shearing was victorious during the third round of Diss Angling Club’s Winter Series at The Mere.
Competing from peg 15, Shearing fished the feeder with dead red maggots for his winning bag of 28lb 9oz.
Dordy Wilby was second with 15lb 1oz fishing short with bread punch from peg 17, while third place went to Bill Malsters with 13lb 14oz from peg 12.
Those results have left it tight at the top of the points league with Ben Wilby currently leading the way with 13 points.
Dordy Wilby is now up to second position with 11 points, while Andrew Mears makes up the top three on 10 points.
The fourth round will take place in a fortnight.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s match was also down The Mere and some good weights of silvers were caught.
Bill Malsters was on form again, winning the match with 24lb 1oz from peg 17.
He caught mainly skimmers fishing the pole and 13m.
Mears was second with a return of 17lb, which saw him finish just ahead of Dordy Wilby on the next peg, who weighed in 16lb 3oz.
At the Veterans match on Tuesday at Thornham Lakes, it was Billy Crisp who took the honours with a weight of 18lb 6oz.
Second spot went to Keith Rodwell with 13lb 8oz and Dordy Wilby was third with 7lb 14oz.
