Mark Riley’s final bout before joining the army was one of the headline attractions at Attleborough Boxing Club’s host night at Connaught Hall on March 11.

However, the fighter, who is nicknamed Rusty, came up just short in a close encounter with Kingsheath’s Patrick Smith as the split decision went the way of the away corner.

Elsewhere, the only girl bout on the card proved to be a crowd pleaser with 13-year-old Daelarrna Blackwell showing some very controlled punches and gritty determination against Danielle Blake of Berinsfield ABC in picking up her victory.

Blackwell’s performance was enough to earn her the Home Fighter of the Night accolade.

Attleborough’s Charlie Connaughton’s was beaten by Finlay James of Billericay ABC, but the home team’s Ezra Arenyeka fared better with some big punches to seal a victory over St Oysth’s Carl Rollin.

Attleborough’s Bobby Weston was given a win by TKO after Reece Cattermole of Patrick’s corner called a stop to the fight at the end of the second round.

Arguably the bout of the night was won by the hosts’ Connor Holloway, who produced a stampede of punches to get the better of Boston’s Thomas Upsall.

Meanwhile, the night started with three skills rounds, kicked off by Harry King-Tomlin against Maldon’s Harry Brooks.

Paul Willett was on next against Norwich City’s Matthew Page, before Corban Sewell faced off with Charlie Collings of Norwich City ABC.

There was also plenty of wins for other clubs, including Freddie Collins (Norwich City), Teddy Anderson (Maldon), Muhammed Khan (Peterborough Police), Kaleb Roberton-Howard (Eastgate), Danny Perry (Norwich City), Bradley Rae (Bridgewater), Jake James (Bridgewater), Aaron McDonnell (Bridgewater) and Robin Mcgregor (Maldon).

Attleborough ABC are now preparing for their dinner show at Wymondham Rugby Club on Saturday, May 20.
