Harleston Magpies men’s indoor team are setting their sights on a promotion push in their Super 6s Championship Division Two North campaign as they target an immediate return to Division One.

Having suffered relegation last season, Magpies kick off the new campaign with a trip to St Albans this weekend for their first group game which also contains Barford Tigers, Bournville, Lichfield and Preston for the two-day competition.

Magpies will be looking for a top three finish in order to move onto the Division Two tournament, which is being held at the University of West England two weeks later on January 23-24.

A top two finish in Division Two would then secure Harleston a place back in Division One for the 2016-17 season.

The indoor season also allows teams to include two players who did not feature in their outdoor season so far, with Harleston electing to welcome back two of their former players in Carl Sitch and Chris Barber.

“We got relegated last year so our aim is for promotion to get back there,” said men’s captain Leigh Sitch.

“It will be nice to play alongside my brother Carl again. He now plays outdoors for Teddington. It will be good to play with him, rather than against him.”

n Meanwhile, the ladies team head to Nottingham Trent University for the start of their Division One campaign which includes Bristol Firebrands, Buckingham, Holcombe, Wakefield, St Albans, Olton, Clifton and Brooklands Poynton.
