The start of the month was a busy period for the Framlingham Flyers, who were in action at five events over various distances and terrain.

The stand-out saw Adam Howlett and his partner Amanda Dunn complete the Bhutan Marathon in The Himalayas.

Howlett did particularly well as he secured an 11th-placed finish.

Elsewhere, Jim Last was at the Essex 20-mile race representing Suffolk as part of a team of eight. He was the first Suffolk runner to finish.

Meanwhile, 34 senior Flyers and two juniors took part in the fifth round of the Suffolk Winter League cross country events at Fritton Lake.

With under 300 runners, the field for the event was the smallest, by far, of this year’s league.

The senior team was led home by Graeme Knott and Darren Sheppard.

Despite having a depleted squad, the Flyers held on to second place in the league with one race remaining.
