Diss and District Angling Club saw nine members at Sunday’s match at Besthorpe Farm Shop, with Ben Wilby taking top honours weighing in 71lb 12oz of carp caught using floating dog mixers.

Second was Andrew Mears, also fishing floating baits, for a weight of 36lb 4oz. Dordy Wilby was third with 24lb 15oz.

Tuesday’s match was at Hinderclay Lakes’ Willow Pool. Fishing was hard for long periods and the weights showed it. Colin Lea was first with a weight of 17b 6oz, fishing towards some lilies in his corner peg and catching small carp.

Second place went to Steve Mitchell, who had three carp for 12lb, and third place to Billy Crisp with 11lb, all caught in the last hour.

Saturday’s match was at Thornham Fisheries. Steve Mitchell was first with 58lb 8oz, He caught plenty of carp and finished 23lb ahead of second-placed John Mears on 35lb 4oz. Third place went to Colin Lea with 21lb 8oz.

Sunday was the Ann Draper Open at Diss Mere, with a strong field of 11. First place went to Billy Hughes, fishing peg 37 behind the shops. He fished close in and the feeder to finish with 25lb 2oz.

Peter Dade was second fishing peg three, who weighed in 21lb 12oz, which included a 10lb carp.

Ben Wilby was third with 20lb 4oz of skimmers from peg 35.

The Knockout cup is down to the last few matches. Karl Hales and Bill Davies are already through to the semi-finals with wins against Andrew and John Mears respectively.

Two quarter-final matches have still to be settled – Colin Lea v Jimmy Ellis and Dordy Wilby v Ben Wilby.

On Sunday the Committee Cup will be fished at Diss Mere.
