Andrew Daniels was victorious in the Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club last weekend by the narrowest of margins, beating Banham’s George and James Burrows by a fraction.
The club sent 302 birds to St Albans for the third race of the 2015 young bird programme and they were liberated at 8am with no wind to contend with.
Diss-based Daniels clocked his winning bird after an hour and forty-three minutes on the wing to record a velocity of 1,274.5 yards per minute.
Just under a minute later, over in Banham, the Burrows were clocking their first bird but had to settle for second position, (velocity 1,274.3).
Derek Swallow took third place while new member Terry Colk of Watton was in fourth and fifth place.
