The Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club had more success in attempting to race from Eastbourne last Saturday with a much clearer and sunnier day.
Just over 200 birds were released off the infamous Beachy Head clifftop at 7.30am with the winning bird taking two hours and 41 minutes to return home.
That pigeon belonged to John and Lee Curtis of Hepworth with a velocity of 1,239 yards per minute. They were just a yard ahead of second place Brian Brooks, racing from his Carleton Rode lofts, (velocity 1,238 ypm) while John and Lee Curtis also claimed third.
Steven Kaschner took fourth with Banham’s George and James Burrows in fifth, sixth and seventh.
