Ross Potter hailed his side’s ‘90-minute performance’ against local rivals Debenham LC on Saturday with the 5-1 victory leaving Tangerines on the fringe of the top four after previously suffering back-to-back defeats.

The Diss Town manager spoke to sports editor Russell Claydon following a memorable derby day triumph at Brewers Green Lane on Saturday, also picking out his top individual performers as well as declaring his pride in the team’s display.

Captain Kyle Downes was moved back up front from centre-half and showed why he is usually deployed up front, scoring twice in a lethal eight-minute first-half spell to put the home side firmly in the driving seat.

Seventeen-year-old winger Callum Olpin made it 3-0 just after the restart with Shaun Thorrold striking one back for the Hornets on the hour mark.

But the sting was quickly taken out of their hopes of a comeback when substitute Chris Holmes made it 4-1, and the striker soon had his own brace to complete a joyous day for the home crowd.
