THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE
Framlingham Town 1
Needham Market Reserves 1
Framlingham dropped points for the fourth game in succession on Friday evening, with lowly Needham Market Reserves claiming a share of the spoils from their trip to Badingham Road.
Third-from-bottom Needham were also in poor form heading into the encounter, having taken one point from a possible 12.
However, they took the lead early in the second half and looked set to pick up just a sixth win of the season before substitute Ryan Noy struck for the home side late on to salvage a point.
Despite Needham defending resolutely, Framlingham created some good chances during the first half, but they were unable to convert any of them.
Max Willett and Simon Poacher both had shots saved by visiting goalkeeper Tyler Hursey, while up the other end Bowen McCrory volleyed just wide of the target.
But within three minutes of the restart, Needham’s second string were in front.
Elijah Seymour played a ball behind Framlingham’s Cryus Thorpe for William Wharton-Richardson, who slotted his shot beyond the reach of Gary Rose in the home goal.
Soon after Needham had two chances to double their lead, both of which fell to Roman Carvell.
Thankfully for The Castlemen, Carvell fired the first of those off target and the second was denied by Rose.
And those misses were duly punished 13 minutes from time when Noy, from inside the penalty area, managed to hook the ball over a helpless Hursey.
In the closing stages Framlingham set about claiming all three points and went close with a Poacher header, while Danny Smith and James Mayhew both failed to keep their attempts down as the game ended all square.
n The winless run continued on Tuesday evening when Mel Aldis’ side lost 3-0 at King’s Lynn Town Reserves.
The away side’s cause was not helped by having their goalkeeper Peter Borg red carded during the first half when the scoreline was locked at 0-0.
n Ninth-placed Framlingham return to action at home tomorrow with the visit of promotion-hunting Woodbridge Town, who currently occupy fourth spot (3pm).
