NORWICH CITY fan Edward Seaman says: Canaries back in calmer waters after timely win

There can never be a bad time to win in football, but last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat of Bournemouth certainly steered the Norwich City ship back towards calmer waters.

It wasn’t just the three points, but the manner in which they were emphatically won as well as the importance of not only gaining that first home win but also Cameron Jerome scoring his first goal of the season.

Quite frankly, it was just nice to get back to talking football after the circus that surrounded the end of the transfer window made the international break feel an absolute eternity.

At the helm of the ship was Wes Hoolahan, and his display was one of sheer brilliance as he led Bournemouth down the plank.

Anyone who has read my column regularly since the start of last season will know how highly I rate the Irish magician and he really put Eddie Howe’s men to the sword, setting up City’s first goal and adding the second.

But of course he wasn’t without his crew. Matt Jarvis on his debut impressed, especially in his ability to drag City up the pitch with the ball at his feet and his goal was fully deserved.

At 29-years-old, Jarvis certainly has the experience and if his debut is anything to go by, it looks as if his move to Carrow Road has given him a new lease of life.

We are in good shape as we travel to Liverpool on Sunday and to use a classic cliché, it’s a game in which City have nothing to lose.

Having watched Bournemouth at Anfield earlier in the season, I think Brendan Rodgers’ men, especially the back four, are there to be got at and if we play with a no fear attitude then we can certainly give them a real game.

Then it’s back to Carrow Road on Wednesday night for League Cup action against West Brom and under Alex Neil I have no concerns that we will see a repeat of some of the recent year’s cup nightmares and with a strong selection there is no reason we cannot progress.

Let’s push on from here.
