Earl Stonham will be hoping to enjoy a more memorable campaign as the new Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Division Five season commences.
Last year’s campaign proved pretty uneventful for the club as they finished safely in mid-table, securing seventh place.
But having finished closer to the bottom of the table than the top, Stonham will be hopeful of progressing further up the league, starting with a victory away at Harwich and Dovercourt tomorrow in the season opener (1pm).
The encounter could prove a close one with tomorrow’s hosts finishing just one place and three points behind Stonham last season.
Elsewhere, Stradbroke will be hopeful of turning last year’s table on its head as they prepare to travel to Eye and District to commence the new Division Eight West campaign.
A forgetful season saw Stradbroke finish rooted to the foot of the table, while tomorrow’s hosts ended up in a respectful and promising fifth place.
Meanwhile, Diss Cricket Club are preparing for the start of the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division season on May 2 by hosting Acle in a friendly tomorrow (1pm).
Diss performed strongly last year, finishing in a promising third place position.
