Danny Cash says he has been delighted with the way Garboldisham have adapted to life in the Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance Premier Division, writes Alex Moss.
Garby, promoted from Division One as champions last season, have won three and lost three of their opening six fixtures.
And ahead of hosting Old Buckenham tomorrow (1pm), Garboldisham captain Cash reflected on his side’s positive start to the campaign.
“I’m very happy,” he said. “I would have happily taken fifth place after six games.
“We’ve beaten last season’s champions Fakenham and Swardeston in the last few weeks, so we feel that we’ve adjusted well.
“The core of our team has been the same for the last four or five years.
“We’ve had three promotions in four years to get to the top level in the county.
“The key for us this season has been the strength in the second team at the club and it’s reflected in how well they are doing (top of Division Four).
“The players in our team now have to play for their places and we’ve never had that before.”
Garby (5th) just fell short of a third win in a row at the weekend after losing in the final over at Sprowston, while Bucks (3rd) will be hoping to end a run of three straight defeats when they visit The Langley this weekend.
The hosts will be boosted by the return of Henry Phoenix tomorrow.
