Diss Rugby Club open their pre-season programme with a fixture at Mackenders tomorrow against local rivals Southwold (2.30pm).
The Diss squad, under the continued leadership of Roger Coombs and David Smith, have now been training for six weeks and are set to get back in action for the first time since their heartbreaking London Two North East last-gasp 16-13 play-off defeat to Chiswick on April 25.
The Southwold game, against a side who play a league lower, is followed by a trip to face National League Bury St Edmunds’ Wolfhounds second team on Wednesday (7pm) before hosting Stowmarket a week tomorrow (2.30pm) and Old Haberdashers on Saturday, September 5 (2.30pm).
Diss begin their league campaign with a mouth- watering away fixture on September 19 against relegated local rivals Ipswich, before travelling to Romford to play Campion the following week (both 3pm). The Blues’ first home league fixture is on October 3 against Saffron Walden (2pm).
