IN NORFOLK League Division Two, Diss second team have moved up to the top of the table after a 14-7 victory away at Potters Leisure, while results went their way as previously top of the table Cromer got hammered 16-4 at home to Broadlands.
At the head of the order, the reliable Jack Bell and Andrew Whiting got Diss off to a great start – Bell comfortably a 3-0 winner while Whiting started slowly before beating Pieter Bothma (8-10 9-7 9-6 9-4).
Meanwhile, Potters' Graham Fackham edged out Alex Brown 3-2 in the fourth string match using every ounce of experience and although Brown played well he made mistakes at crucial times.
Heading into the final game of the evening, Tom Bell faced Richard Copman.
Bell raced away to an impressive 2-0 lead after outplaying his opponent before losing match point in the third game and then being outrun by his older opponent and losing out 9-7 in the fifth game to leave himself with the Magnum Bill.
Diss' first team were comfortably beaten 18-1 at home to Ipswich.
Dan Calver, Adam Gretton, Andrew Whiting and John Shaw were all beaten 3-0 while Jack Bell picked up Diss' only point in the 2nd string match losing 3-1 to John Goodridge.
On Tuesday, Diss second team host Cromer in a top of the table clash at Heywood Sports and Racquet Club.
