IT has been a long time coming but Andrew and Craig Daniels finally got a win under their belts in the 2008 Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club young bird campaign.
Fifty-one birds raced from Fareham, a distance of around 150 miles.

It proved to be a challenging race for the young birds, facing misty and humid conditions.

The first birds returned home to Diss after a gruelling three-and-a-half hour flight, with the Daniels pair clocking three birds in as many minutes to take the top three places, with vels 1,183, 1,167 and 1,158.

Kelvin Sharman, the most consistent young bird flyer this year, was not far behind taking fourth and fifth places, clocking two pigeons in five seconds.

Sharman was also seventh, while George and James Burrows were sixth and eighth.

* After the previous week's domination by Bunwell's Brian Brooks, the season's ding-dong struggle in the South Norfolk Club, reverted to Scole's Steve Kaschner.

His birds took first and second places in the South Norfolk Club's event from Market Rasen at the weekend.

Brooks took third, fifth and sixth and Kaschner's fourth place meant that the arch rivals overwhelmed everyone else.

Jo and Rodger Smith, of Stradbroke, took the next three places and, once again, the Fressingfield couple, Chris and Mandy Reeves completed the top ten.

This coming weekend the young birds will face a much longer distance when they race nearly 300 miles from Dunbar in the North Road National.
