Golf: Free coaching sessions at Diss

FREE coaching taster sessions are being offered at Diss Golf Club in the coming weeks.
There will sessions on July 29 and August 6 for girls, July 31 and August 7 for boys and on July 31, August 7 and 14 for adults. The sessions are open to beginners and non members.

To book a lesson, with a PGA professional, call the club on 01379 644399. Golf clubs and balls are provided.

The scheme is an initiative provided by the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women's Golf Association (EWGA), designed to help people get into golf.

* Thirty players took part in Jill Driver's Lady Captain's Day at Diss Golf Club.

They played a Stableford competition, handicapped by carrying only 12 clubs each. The overall winner was Judith Bedwell with 40 points.

Nearest the Pin competition on the 12th was won by Jane Izod

Nearest the White Line competition on the second was won by Deanna Boult

Driver handed out gifts to all members and prizes to the winners.

Results:Silver Division One: Judith Bedwell (40 pts) 2 Val Mendham (36), 3 Steph Mendham (34).

Division Two: 1 Lorna Burroughs (34), 2 Deanna Boult (32), 3 Celia Pearson (28 ).

Division Three: 1 Helena Honour (31); 2 Muriel Sterling (27 count back); 3 Pat Brown (27).
