Mummery Cup First Round, Hempnall 1 Corton 4:The Mummery Cup will not be returning to Bungay road this year as holders Hempnall crashed out at the first hurdle.
The home side had a number of players out but this was no excuse for what followed as a well organised and determined Corton side took full advantage of a lacklustre performance to take a well-deserved victory.

Corton took the lead from the penalty spot but 15 minutes before half-time Hempnall had their best and possibly only real period of coordinated play which culminated in an equaliser.

Dave Norman's free kick was met by a soaring Steve Barnes, who give the visiting keeper no chance.

Substitutes Flint, Cawston and the returning Cussons were all introduced in the second half but they could not stop Corton securing a thoroughly deserved victory, as they added three more goals.

The only promising aspect of the day was the return to fitness of joint-manager Paul Franklin, who was Hempnall's man of the match.

Division One
Scole United 0 Long Stratton 3
THIS scoreline was a fair reflection of this match last Tuesday.

Shaun Moss's effort looped over the home keeper to give the Reds the lead.

The second half saw Stratton camped in Scole's half but they had to wait until the last eight minutes to score goals from Moss and James Barnes.

Division Four
Harleston Town 5 Freethorpe 0

Harleston are now just one of three teams who have made a 100 per cent start to their Division Four season.

Harleston dominated from the off, and were soon ahead when Mark Pearce managed to cleverly nod home a low corner.

The second came when a low cross was missed by Ben Green only to see a defensive mix up return the ball to him and he guided it into the net. Any hopes of a Freethorpe come back were dismissed when Kieran Passey's free-kick found the back of the net.

With only minutes to go, Pearce bagged his second of the game, again with his head, after timing a beautiful run into the the box.

Substitute Matty Goreham's left-foot drive was palmed out towards Passey, who neatly dinked the rebound over the keeper.

Division Five
Long Stratton Reserves 2 CNSOBU 1
LONG STRATTON came from behind to beat CNSOBU last Wednesday.

The Reds conceded a goal after just six minutes but got back on level terms when man of the match Chris Bartram notched his first goal of the season. Eventually Stratton's pressure in the second half told, when Darren Fowles put in a good cross and substitute Dale Wallis finished well.
